Ikea aim to improve the lives of everyday people, providing furniture that is easy to assemble, affordable and most importantly FUNCTIONAL. Well, hat-tip to the guys over at BBH Singapore, they really nailed it with the 2015 Valentines Day campaign. Affordable, yes. Easy to assemble, yes. Functional? I’ll leave that one down to the love birds this weekend.
Having come across this campaign, we dug a little deeper and it turns out that IKEA just bloody love to stir it up around Valentine’s Day and they’re right! I feel that advertising, especially in Ireland is becoming far boring and serious with creatives having to tip-toe around more and more, making sure they don’t ruffle any feathers or upset anyone. Here’s hoping this campaign can inspire some more creativity and maybe next year we’ll see some Irish brands shake things up and get consumers giggling!
