We’ve all heard the jokes;
How do you double the price of a Skoda? Fill up the tank
and,
Why do Skoda’s have heated rear windscreens? To keep your hands warm while your pushing it.
Or my personal favourite:
What do you call a Skoda at the the top of a hill ? A miracle.
For years Irish drivers have struggled to break away from the stigma of driving a Skoda and for good reasons too! They were consistently unreliable, extremely ugly and more or less the definition of a shit car. Upon acquisition by Volkswagen in 2000 and the launch of new designs between 2001 and 2005, Skoda has tried to break away from the old, knackered vehicles of the 90’s! Remember that class Skoda cake? We do… Well it seems all the hard work has paid off and now it’s time Skoda got the consumer to notice the design in this new TV ad from AIS London. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpPYdMs97eE It’s obvious now that we can purchase the same quality car as the latest VW Golf or Audi A3 for a fraction of the price by buying the new Skoda Fabia – but the questions is, would you? As much as I appreciate this great ad, having grown up with “the jokes” I don’t know if I could bring myself to actually own one!
